Chemistry: Fully Funded Swansea University and European Commission PhD Scholarship; Advanced Label-Free Super Resolution Optical Imaging Microscopy.
Applications are invited from interested candidates from the field of engineering, physics, chemistry, material science and related subjects for a 3 year PhD studentship to work on label-free optical imaging for applications in materials and biological sciences.
In this project you will develop new microscopy and imaging techniques by combining atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy for chemical and biological analysis at spatial resolution ranging from 10 nm to few microns. The project will build upon a successful collaboration between Swansea University and the national measurement institutes in Europe.

Eligibility
Candidates must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 2.1 level (or Non-UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University) in Engineering or similar relevant science discipline. A 1st class or 2:1 degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or Engineering with strong interests in instrumentation and optical imaging is desirable.
English Language requirements: If applicable – IELTS 6.0 overall (with at least 5.5 in each individual component) or Swansea recognised equivalent. Details on the Swansea University English Language entry policy can be found here.
Due to funding restrictions, this scholarship is open to applicants eligible to pay tuition fees at the UK rate only, as defined by UKCISA regulations.
