Pastor Mensa Otabil: African Continent will become a ‘destination for job seekers’

Pastor Mensa Otabil

Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), believes the African continent will turn around and become a destination for job seekers from America and Europe.

To justify his view on the continent’s fortunes, he stated that his optimism is not based on physical entities, but rather on a strong confidence in God’s justice and fairness in not lifting up one and neglecting the other.

On the first night of Greater Works Conference, Pastor Mensa Otabil reaffirmed his conviction that Africa will surpass all other continents in importance, in a speech headlined “we will get it back.”

In order to pull the African continent out of what looks like hopeless situation, Pastor Mensa Otabil urged the congregation to be inspired by the prophet Jeremiah rather than to limit God.

He anchored his sermon on Jeremiah chapter 32 and recalled how God showed Jeremiah the most impossible situation ever, where an external and an internal enemy had taken over Israel.

Pastor Mensa Otabil gave an example of how God restored the nation while it was in captivity and impossible.

He compared the predicament to that of those foreign powers that had robbed Africa of its resources and impoverished the continent, as well as to locals who were exploiting the predicament and making it worse.

He believed that soon, Africa will produce the most billionaires. There, he urged worshippers to put in more effort and take on more responsibility because “Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Jack Ma will read about you very soon,” he added.

Other speakers at this year’s Greater Works Conference include Bishop Tudor Bismark, senior pastor of Jabula New Life Covenant Church in Harare, Zimbabwe, and Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, founder and senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre in the United Kingdom.
